Viewing the Brewers across the gambit.

This weekend I watched the Brewers in the three most common ways. Friday we went to Miller Park, by far the best way to watch the crew. Sunday the game was on Fox Sports (in HD this game) which is the second best way to watch the game. However Saturday I couldn't watch any longer than to check the score. Not because of the score (the crew won). It was because it was on WMLW. Why are the Brewers brodcast on such a second rate channel. Every game I've seen has a ghost image following everyplayer around the sound is horrible. Even when the game is not in HD on Fox Sports it is ten times better. If the Brewers want to broadcast games on a over air broadcast channel why not on channels 4, 6 or 58. Their all Milwaukee channels, 58 is even owned/run by the same company as WMLW. Come on lets get this changed for next year.

My apologies to Mr. Kendall.

Before the begining of the season I questions the Brewers decision to sign Jason Kendall. I need to admit my error in judgement. Kendall has been a key player this year. He was sixth in the league in batting going into yesterday and had already thrown out six would be base thiefs. Not only that his defense behing the plate makes Johnny Estrada look like chump. By the way did he even play in the series last week against the Mets? So Mr. Kendall please forgive me and go Brew Crew!

Top NFL draft busts.

ESPN.com has an article this morning going through their top 50 draft bust of all time. The Bengals made the list four times. The four mentioned were:

  • Akili Smith QB
  • Jack Thompson QB
  • David Klingler QB
  • Peter Warrick WR

Jack Thompson was before my time but I am still trying to repress Smith and Klingler. Warrick was more a victim of bad teams then himself in my opion. One player that was left out which shocked me was Ki-Jana Carter (RB). He was drafted in the first round and then quickley blew out his knee in his first PRESEASON game. If you want to read the full article here is the link

First and Last?

I went to the home opener with my wife and kids this past Friday. I have been a big baseball fan for most of my life, but have never been to a home opener for any team so I took the opportunity this weekend. However the hassle that it was getting into the parking lot was too much. It took over an hour to get into the lot. Fortunetly we had paid for parking ahead of time. Others who had not were turned away when the unreserved spots were filled two hours before the game. The game itself was great a 13-4 win for the Crew, but putting up with the crowds of drunks was worse than a normal game. We buy tickets in the family section which prohibits beer. However a large number of people had to be asked to move by the ushers and some by the fans who brought beer to their seats. There was even one vendor that sold to about 10 people. I hope it is better the rest of the season, but I don't know if we'll go to opening day again.

The ups and downs in the past few weeks

The past few weeks have seen some downs and ups. Granted in the big picture they are not that important. The down was when we saw the series finale of Jericho. I was very much invested in this show both time wise and financially. I was won of the crazy fans that sent nuts to CBS in protest of its cancellation last year and was thrilled when they renewed it. However the rating weren't there again and it was cancelled. At least I have the DVD's to get my periodic fix. The up came this past week as my family went to watch the final preseason game for the Brewers at Miller Park. It was a blast. Then to watch the Brew Crew beat the chubbies and are poised to sweep the them today.
On side note you wouldn't know this if you depended on our local newspapers website (Racine Journal Times). They don't seem to cover anything outside of Racine County. Which being 35 minutes from Miller Park would be way to far to travel. Any way go Brew Crew!
